Ricasoli's history at Brolio dates back to 1141, placing the family among the historic names of Tuscan wine. For centuries, the Ricasoli family has been closely connected to the development of the Chianti Classico territory and its winemaking traditions. In the 19th century, Baron Bettino Ricasoli conducted extensive research into grape varieties and winemaking and, in 1872, documented his celebrated formula for Chianti.
