Napa Valley's oldest winery was founded in 1861 by Charles Krug, the visionary father of Napa Valley winemaking. In 1943, Cesare and Rosa Mondavi purchased this iconic estate and built upon its reputation for innovation and uncompromising quality. Peter Mondavi Sr., proudly shepherded the winery for some 73 years, developing our prized estate vineyards throughout the Napa Valley. Today, we remain family-owned carrying the torch forward as stewards of this great estate, passionately perfecting an enduring legacy for generations to come.
Tasting Notes
This wine displays aromas of subtle toffee, flint, savory dark caramel, coffee with cream, toasty oak, smoked paprika, black cherry and black fruit on the nose. It is full-bodied with firm tannins yet offers soft supple layers of espresso, toast, mocha, concentrated berries, and vanilla. The finish ends with well-integrated oak.
