Napa Valley's oldest winery was founded in 1861 by Charles Krug, the visionary father of Napa Valley winemaking. In 1943, Cesare and Rosa Mondavi purchased this iconic estate and built upon its reputation for innovation and uncompromising quality. Peter Mondavi Sr., proudly shepherded the winery for some 73 years, developing our prized estate vineyards throughout the Napa Valley. Today, we remain family-owned carrying the torch forward as stewards of this great estate, passionately perfecting an enduring legacy for generations to come.
Tasting Notes
The wine opens with expressive aromas of hibiscus tea, cranberry, cherry, red currant, cedar, plum, brown butter, and whole cardamom. It is soft and buttery with a lush entry. Notes of vanilla, baked red fruit, cocoa nibs, and red currant lead to a medium-long finish with cherry and spicy oak.
