Delas Crozes Hermitage Domaine Des Grands Chemins 2022

Founded in 1835 and based in Tain-l'Hermitage, in the heart of the Northern Rhone, Delas Freres is one of the valley's historic houses, with nearly two centuries of winegrowing behind it. Since 1993 it has belonged to Champagne Louis Roederer - acquired within the Champagne Deutz group under CEO Fabrice Rosset - whose investment revived a maison Rosset has called a 'sleeping beauty' and repositioned it as a key player in the high-end Northern Rhone. The house works as both grower and blender: it farms its own single-vineyard estates - Domaine des Tourettes in Hermitage, Domaine des Grands Chemins in Crozes-Hermitage and the Sainte-Epine coteau in Saint-Joseph - and sources the rest from long-standing partner growers held to its quality standards, with blending, ageing and bottling all carried out at Delas. In 2019 it inaugurated a new gravity-fed winery in Tain-l'Hermitage, under Burgundy-born winemaker Jacques Grange. Within this range, Domaine des Grands Chemins is one of the maison's own single-vineyard estates - 20 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage, farmed by Delas and vinified to show the most expressive terroirs of the property.

Tasting Notes

Balanced and elegant, a finely etched Northern Rhone Syrah drawing structure and tension from its granite slopes and freshness from the mistral. Aged partly in barrel and partly in stainless steel to keep the fruit bright. Serve with grilled and roasted meats, charcuterie, or peppered beef.
