La Scolca is the first estate to bottle Gavi del Comune di Gavi. Gavi dei Gavi(R) established a new level of quality in Italian white wines. The name was trademarked in 1966. Family run since 1919, 5th generation winemaker, Chiara Soldati is now the face of the estate and a respected "woman in wine." La Scolca is made with 100% estate-grown fruit on 50 HA of Cortese vineyards in Rovereto and 3HA of Pinot Nero vineyards in Monferrato. The wine is made with high-density plantings, low yields, green harvests, hand-harvested fruit, modern temperature-controlled facilities, natural yeasts, and no sulfites.

The prestigious "Gavi dei Gavi" (R) La Scolca, is obtained with the utmost respect for nature, from pruning to harvest. There's a strict and rigorous selection conducted with the utmost care, cluster by cluster, in vineyards, over sixty years of age. Applying the ancient rules of winemaking, we obtain a wine endowed with fragrance and flavors of live and intense character, very harmonious and balanced. it offers a suprising freshness and integrity. Notes of flint, almond and hazelnut will develop in the course of time, which does wonders.
