In the late 1800s, Charles Nelson introduced the world to a new type of whiskey. It was the kind of spirit people sought out, shared, and remembered. Mellowed through a bed of sugar maple charcoal until it was real smooth and easy to love. It set the standard by which all future Tennessee whiskeys would be judged. Then history took a turn and Prohibition forced the distillery to close. Over the years, the Nelson family moved on from whiskey making. But on a fateful trip to Greenbrier, TN, Charles Nelson's great-great-great grandsons were confronted with relics from their family's distilling past: the land where their ancestral distillery once stood, and two perfectly preserved bottles of whiskey. Destiny was calling. It was 100 years after Prohibition shuttered its doors that the brothers re-opened the distillery to the world. The rest, as they say, is history.
