Roederer Estate is the California property of Champagne Louis Roederer, the family-owned house that has made fine wine for more than two centuries. In 1982 Jean-Claude Rouzaud - chairman of Louis Roederer and a fifth-generation descendant of the founder - chose a 580-acre site in Mendocino County's cool, fog-shrouded Anderson Valley, convinced that owning its own vineyards was essential to top quality. The estate's Anderson Valley Brut debuted in 1988, followed by its first tete de cuvee, L'Ermitage, from the 1989 vintage. The estate's style rests on two things: growing all its own fruit, and adding oak-aged reserve wines to each blend. Roederer Estate is among the very few California sparkling houses to source only estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, farmed organically and biodynamically on an open-lyre trellis that ripens the fruit slowly under the valley's warm days and cool nights. Only the first pressing - the cuvee - is used, and French-oak-aged reserve wines are blended back in the traditional Roederer manner for body, finesse and depth, under winemaker Arnaud Weyrich. The result is a range known for a fresh, precise, well-defined style that stays consistent year after year. Within the range, L'Ermitage Rose is the pink form of the estate's tete de cuvee - colored with a Burgundian touch of estate Pinot Noir, and in 2019 the first to undergo malolactic fermentation.

Tasting Notes
Cooked peach and baked pastry-crust aromatics; a plush, soft entry and creamy brightness enrobe the texture of the Pinot Noir. Made in a taut, elegant style following the vintage's first malolactic fermentation. Serve chilled as an aperitif or with salmon, poultry and berry-driven desserts.
