The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scotsman from Perth who borrowed E300 to invest in a wine trading business sourcing wines from Porto and Jerez-a legacy that continues to this day. The Sandeman portfolio includes Ports, Sherries, and Madeira, and has been recognized as the world's most awarded portfolio of Aged Tawnies for the past 9 years by Decanter, IWC, and IWSC. In 1928, Scottish artist George Massiot Brown was commissioned by Sandeman to create a poster to advertise the brand. Drawing inspiration from both Portuguese Port and Spanish Sherry, he created "The Don," a mysterious figure wearing a wide-brimmed Spanish hat and a Portuguese student's cape. The Don quickly became iconic, emerging as one of the first true design symbols in the wine world. Today, The Don remains central to Sandeman's identity and is featured on every bottle.

Tasting Notes

Deep color, almost opaque. Aroma of excellent complexity, with bushy and spicy notes, together with curry, pepper, ginger, red berries and black fruits mixed with a light cacao touch, the result of a good maturation, along with a slightly stony finish. On the palate it has a powerful attack, with a lively acidity, firm and well present tannins, bushy and red berry notes, with an extremely long finish and great concentration.
