Cladrecis by the Sirch family embodies the tradition of Friulian winemaking while showcasing the distinctive terroir of Northeastern Italy. Family-owned and rooted in a region renowned for exceptional white wines, the estate is dedicated to crafting wines that express the character of their land with quality and distinction. Cladrecis takes its name from both a charming mountain village and the vineyard where its Chardonnay is grown. Located in the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC along the Slovenian border, the single vineyard sits at approximately 1,030 feet above sea level on the slopes of the Judrio River Valley. The vineyard's exceptional character comes from the ancient Friulian soil known as "ponca," a unique composition of marl-limestone and calcareous clay-intermixed with sandstone that formed over numerous geological eras. The 4-hectare vineyard is planted with vines ranging from 5 to 45 years old, with the older vines offering greater disease resistance and an honest expression of the terroir. Estate-grown and hand-harvested, the Chardonnay benefits from the region's cool Mediterranean climate, altitude, and distinctive soils. Together, these elements create wines marked by invigorating citrus, delicate vanilla, hints of dried fruit, and refreshing acidity.
