Tenuta Garetto Nizza Fava 2020 Wood Box

After success in Barolo, the Gagliardo family acquired Tenuta Garetto in 2017 after years of searching for the ideal site. The family's roots date back to 1847 in Piedmont's Langhe, with leadership passing to Gianni Gagliardo in 1973. Today, his sons Stefano, Alberto, and Paolo oversee the estates. Located in Agliano Terme in the heart of Nizza DOCG-known as the "village of Barbera"-Tenuta Garetto includes vines dating back to 1935 and produces deeply colored, full-bodied wines with high acidity and aging potential. The small, highly regulated Nizza appellation spans just 10 hectares, 6 of which are owned by Garetto. The family has also invested in Timorasso, a rare white grape from Colli Tortonesi. Known for its ageability and mineral, savory profile, it is experiencing a strong revival, with Tenuta Garetto leading the way.

Tasting Notes

Color & Nose: Intense ruby red color with fruity aromas of berries, plums, and bread crust. Palate: Intense and balanced with a pleasant acidity and a persistent finish. Pairing: Pairs with rich first courses, red meat, wild game, and spicy cheeses.
